Overview

Module Goals: By completing this module, teachers will be able to use geographic concepts to teach about the impact of too much water or too little water on humans and the environment.

Module Design: This module, consisting of two parts and a total of six lessons, is designed to show how geography and social studies teachers can use geographic concepts to create highly engaging real-world activities to support standards-based learning. The module features two parts that can be taught separately or together. The lessons demonstrate how important geography is and how geospatial technology can be used to support geographic investigations of droughts or flooding in Texas. The module also demonstrates how thinking geographically about water involves important mathematical and scientific concepts and skills.

Geography offers an important perspective on water, water conservation, environment and human impact of water, using geospatial technology to improve future plans, and the environmental/human interactions. This module will introduce teachers to geographic terms, concepts and geospatial technology.
